The New Things

I did warn you that I may be quiet on here for a while. But the end of uni is, now, nearly in sight! In the middle of writing essays I've still be busy with trying some new things and spending some Christmas Vouchers. I always advice saving those vouchers for the gloomy March/April months when you're in the midst of essay writing and exams rather than in the post-Christmas sales. Anywaaaay

We all know my love for Estée Lauder bases so after seeing a few beauty bloggers rave about the new Enlighten Even Effect Skintone corrector I was temped to give it atry. Now, in all honestly, I'm still indifferent to this product. I'm shade one, the lightest of the three shades, but when I apply it I almost can't notice a difference on my skin. It definitely evens out my complexion but so far I haven't recognised the boost I would like from a light-coverage base.

The Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow in the shade Beach Bronze was a little bit of a gamble for me. I hadn't even tried it in store, I just went off Pixiwoo and Tanya's recommendations. However, I'm seriously impressed so far. The staying power is incredible. And the colour has great pigmentation. What's great about this is you can really build it up to create a brown smokey eye. A big thumbs up from me!

After Lily Pebble's post I quickly searched ebay for a Nails Inc Alexa Edit in Winter Lilac. This shade is part of a set but if you're lucky there are quite a few people selling the shades individually on ebay. I've loved wearing this shade for the transitional March weather.

I picked up one of the new Bourjois Colourband Eye Shadowsticks in the shade Beige Minimalist. This is quickly becoming a new everyday favourite. I'm seriously impressed with how well this lasts on my oily eyelids. My only dislike is its not as creamy consistency as I would like and I do sometimes feel like I'm stabbing my eyelid a little...

Last but not least is a repurchase of my favourite, favourite Nars Creamy Concealer. Is it dramatic to say I don't know where I'd be without this in my makeup bag? Seriously, it's a keeper.

February Favourites

It will come as no surprise that I have been loving the Max Factor Clump Defy Volumizing Mascara. Wow. Ah-mazing. Length, natural, no clumps, need I say anymore. Big thumbs up and I highly, highly recommend.

I had a slight haul with the new Real Techniques Bold Metals collection. My favourite has been the Tapered Blush Brush. It picks up the product so well and the angled effect helps for application. And of course what's not to love about the colour and shape of these brushes?! I can't wait to burn down my diptique and display them.

Now I have to apologise about this one. I have been using the Rimmel Finishing Touch Top Coat for a while now and have been rather silent on the wonders of it. If you're an avid beauty blog reader then I'm sure you will have heard the famous sec he viche top coat. Admittedly it is one heck of a good top coat but my experience saw quiet a few clumpy incidents which meant it chipped easily and was easy -and addictive- to pull off. However, I would have to say that I prefer the Rimmel. It's price and the effect it gives makes me one happy nail painter…! It provides an amazing shine and has helped my manicures last for a good seven days! I can't rave enough about this top coat. Bravo Rimmel.

Continuing on with the manicure theme I have been praising the Mavala Mavadry spray. In my opinion its genius: spray, speed, go. The past few weeks has seen me go from one nail polish to another and I've loved having to not sit around and wait till they're dry.

This month has seen me return to an old Mac favourite: the Pro Longwear Blush in Rosy Outlook. This is such a lovely light pink colour that I've really enjoyed using as an everyday, natural blush.

What have been your favourites this month?
