Christmas Gift Ideas

Christmas Gift Ideas

Whilst it may only be November, after a recent trip to Space NK and Instagram scrolling, I couldn't handle my excitement for beauty christmas sets any longer. So off I roll with my top Christmas Beauty presents…

1. Candles can never go a miss at Christmas. Every year I love to see what scents (and packaging) Diptyque will be introducing. My favourite out of the trio this year is Resin Scented Candle. However, if £45/£26 is a bit too much for a candle then Space NK's Shimmering Spice Candle is half the price, and the smell is wonderfully festive. And look at that Christmasy packaging!!

2. I'm always a sucker for a Christmas Edition eyeshadow palette and this year Bobbi Brown need a round of applause for their collection. The Warm Glow Eye Palette is rather darn beautiful. They also have a cute Mini Eyeshadow Palette which would be a great stocking filler. Both feature gold shimmery eyeshadow goodness which is a makeup essential at Christmas. Bravo indeed Bobbi.

3. Now this is what I would like under the Christmas tree . The Nars Digital World Lip Pencil Coffret. Five of their famous lip pencils in one beautiful Christmas theamed box. Do I need to say anymore. Perfect.

4. If you're thinking of asking for something extra-luxurious this year then I think the Laura Mercier La Petite Pâtisserie Soufflé Body Crème Collection  fits the bill perfectly! It's rather pricey but you do get all of the body creme's I'm miniature form. What a perfect way to end Christmas day with a bath and one of these moisturisers.

5. The Charlotte Tilbury Mini Lipstick Charms are up there this year in top Christmas beauty gifts. Three mini lipsticks in the beautiful rose gold packaging, what's not to love?! At £29 this is a lovely way to share the joy of Charlotte Tilbury…!

6. At £32 I'm not sure if everyone will be having one of these around the dinner table, but the Jo Malone Christmas Cracker is a great way to treat someone to some Jo Malone mini treats. Each features a moisturiser, a shower wash and a perfume.

7. The perfect Christmas scent for me has to be Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium. Its such an unusual scent in that it's almost "woody" yet with a vanilla, sweet undertone. You really do have to try a spray of this next time you're near, it's heavenly!

Cleansing Oils

It's time for a skincare talk: a cleansing oils 101. If you're not aware of the importance of double cleansing then perhaps I should direct you to this video here. Caroline Hirons, dermatologist skin expert will explain it all.

My biggest change in skincare routine, since watching that video has been to introduce a cleansing oil before my main cleanser. If you think about how much we layer on our skin, spf's included then a two step cleanse is essential to ensure all that dirt is removed.

I realise I've on many occasion raved about the Body Shop Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil. Oh my, this stuff is ahamazing. And it makes the process of removing making thoroughly enjoyable in my opinion. I would seriously recommend this if you've never used an oil before and want to dip your toes in the water at trying.

A second oil that I've met is the Superfacialist Vitamin C+ Skin Renew Cleansing Oil. Whilst smelling like orange squash this stuff, obviously, removes all traces of makeup, but also provides a radiance enhancer which is always a bonus in my books. Whilst the formula isn't as silky to touch as the Body Shop, I would still rate it a 9/10, which is pretty impressive if I do say so myself.

AW Purple Polishes

Things have taken a serious turn around in my nail polish diaries. To the friends who know me as blue polish obsessed, you won't believe this post! October saw me turn over a fresh Autumnal leaf as I began to purchase and wear more purple toned polishes.

I'll admit at first that BarryM Nail Paint in Vintage Violet is very similar, if not just a hint lighter, than Nails Inc in New Oxford Street. These have been my go to shades since October. Whilst the gel effects formula is pretty darn impressive, if your adamant to stick to budget BarryM is the perfect dupe.

A formula I can never find a fault with is the Rimmel Salon Pro and in the shade Urban Purple I'm always set for the favourite Autumn Winter season. It brightens up those khaki brown uniforms that arise in my wardrobe this time of year.

Essie Luxedo may trick you here. Whilst it may seem very dark, almost black at first, upon application and in certain lights all is revealed as a dark, deep set red. I find this shade rather sophisticated - a suitable shade for the darker nights.

What are your favourite AW shades?
